SAEDEL 2023: the town's mayor in the thick of things
Tuesday 24 October 2023, the 2nd day of the exhibition was marked by the signing of agreements between the Decentralised Territorial Authorities (DTAs) and Cameroon Water (CAMWATER). This important event took place in the conference room of the Salon des Acteurs Economiques et du Développement Local (SAEDEL), located at Ngoyé beach, in the presence of the Prefect of the Ocean Department, Mr NOUHOU BELLO. The Kribi Urban Community and the Kribi 1st and Kribi 2nd District Councils have each initialled a partnership agreement with the entity in charge of drinking water distribution in Cameroon, represented by its Managing Director, Mr Blaise MOUSSA. The main aim of these agreements is to support the local CTDs in expanding their water supply coverage.

Prior to this ceremony, the Kribi partners' forum was held under the theme "Come and build our city". To this end, Guy Emmanuel SABIKANDA, the Mayor of the town, invited all the partners to take part in this interactive exchange with the population. The discussion was moderated by Alain BELIBI. In his introductory remarks, the town's chief magistrate presented the town's potential, the various projects underway, the development priorities in terms of investment projects to be implemented, and the needs of the population to improve their quality of life. He then invited the aforementioned partners to present their projects for the town.
The partners present were: the Investment Promotion Agency (API), the Autonomous Port of Kribi (PAK), the Special Intercommunal Equipment Fund (Feicom), the Cameroon Oil Tranportation Company S.A. (COTCO), the President of the Association of United Towns and Municipalities of Cameroon, and the Cameroon Water Utilities Corporation (CAMWATER). They all outlined their support projects for Kribi, most of which are designed to improve the quality of life for the local population. The PAK representative also announced that they are working on the Port's strategic document, which will boost local development over the next 10 years, as improving the living conditions of the local population is a sine qua non if the PAK is to become the largest economic hub in the Gulf of Guinea.
The Managing Director of CAMWATER, for his part, announced the creation of a new production station, the rehabilitation of the old station and work on the latter's fuel consumption in order to better compensate for power cuts.
SAEDEL enables economic players to highlight their concrete contribution to the development of Regions and Cities. The days ahead will once again bring good news for the town of Kribi.
